Right-to-Life Event in Rovaniemi in January

The northernmost Right-to-Life event to date of the Evangelical Mission Diocese of Finland was held in the city of Rovaniemi (located near the Arctic Circle) at St. Steven’s Congregation on the last Sunday of January 2026. The visit took place at the invitation of Pastor Antti Leinonen. The temperature was around -25 degrees Celsius (-13F), but the reception at the church was warm, open, and led to a good discussion.

After the service, the basic concepts of Right-to-Life were discussed over coffee: Human life begins at conception and is always a great miracle (medical fact). Life is uniquely valuable and irreplaceable (biblical fact). Life is sacred (the Fifth Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill”). Unborn children are our neighbors (“Love your neighbor as yourself”). The Gospel also belongs to the unborn (the Great Commission).

In addition, we encouraged each other to act FOR LIFE wherever we live and move about. As Christians, we have the right and the duty to transform the culture of death that prevails in our society into a culture of life. There are many ways to do this: Regular intercessory prayer for life (general intercessory prayer at Mass and a day of prayer for life on the first Friday of each month); Familiarizing ourselves with the facts, sharing information, and participating in discussions (e.g., on social media); Active involvement in crisis pregnancy situations (offering help and support); Participation in the annual March for Life and other similar events.

We Remember event in Helsinki in March

The next opportunity to be active FOR LIFE will be in March in Helsinki. The Muistamme Event / We Remember will be held on March 21 on the steps of the Parliament House. Members of ELMDF congregations are also involved in the organization and implementation of this. The event needs prayer, participants, and financial support.
