The Bishop of the Diocese oversees that the word of God is preached purely and the sacraments are administered according to Christ’s ordinance in the congregations. The Bishop fosters the internal unity of the Diocese and manages its relations to the outside. He is responsible for conducting ordinations, installing pastors in their congregations and taking care of the diocesan governing bodies.
The Bishop is first and foremost a ‘shepherd of the shepherds’. He tends the pastors of the congregations with God’s word, provides them with pastoral care, and advises and helps them in their work.

The word ‘pastor’ comes from the Latin word for shepherd. Every congregation in the Mission Diocese is shepherded by a pastor, appointed by the congregation itself. The congregation’s pastor (or pastors) preaches and teaches the word of God so that people would come to know their sins and believe in Christ as the Saviour of sinners. Each congregation has a pastor who is in charge of the congregation. More information may be found on the web pages of the congregations.
